Dealing with nursery separation

My little boy (21 months) is having his first few induction sessions at a nursery this week. Last time he loved it & actually threw a massive tantrum when we had to go. This morning I've dropped him off and he was absolutely hysterical.

Did anyone go through this? How did you handle it? Will I seem silly if I call (20 mins after he's gone in) to check if he has settled?

Yes call. They won't mind at all. The fact that he loved his settling in session us a good sign. At 21 months he'll come to understand pretty soon that you come back and he can enjoy himself while he waits. My dcs all settled well within a couple of weeks but would still have the odd day of crying and hanging on to me... all the way through Primary school too! You get used to it Flowers

@NancyDonahue thank you! I just felt so guilty leaving him when I could see he was hysterical!
