Alone!

Anyone got any top tips? I'm arriving tomorrow evening, leaving Saturday evening. My priorities are to relax, and to do a bit of Christmas shopping.

Are there any 'must visit' attractions, lovely little cafes I can curl up with a book in, or recommendations for spas/walks/something-I-haven't-thought-of?

Thank you

St Enoch square has the Christmas food market. George square has Christmas market too but it's more for kids I think. Buchanan street with Buchanan galleries is my favourite for shops but down the bottom of Buchanan street is shops too along Argyle street. There was quite alot of homeless along that road out their faces on the pavement on drugs on Saturday night though which wasn't pleasant.

Where are you staying?

Thank you. Staying at the Hilton on William Street.

The Christmas markets. Buchanan street / galleries for shopping. Spa in the city is nice for a massage.
Assuming you're staying in the city centre?
There's a new cinema in princess square that's meant to be nice.
Merchant city area is nice for a visit too.
What are you doing for dinner?

MsJaneAusten · 29/11/2018 21:38

Dinner will depend on how much I've scoffed on the train on the way up. Either a posh pot noodle in my room while watching netflix, or a meal out. I'm not afraid of eating out alone (love it actually) so if you can recommend anywhere that won't be too busy/trendy that would be lovely.

If you want a traditional pub, comfy type feel then I always like Sloan's. It may be busy though. Most places will be on a Friday and at this time of year.

I have heard excellent things about Blytheswood Square Hotel's spa from friends who are a bit of spa connoisseurs! So could quite confidently recommend there.

Shopping in Glasgow is excellent. Besides the obvious Buchanan Galleries, St Enoch and Buchanan Street, Princes Square is lovely- a luxurious feel with more higher end shops (I just usually treat myself to a Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate or a coffee at the Tinderbox on the top floor).

Agree about Merchant City Area. It also has a Singl End cafe now- bit of a wait, but so highly recommended, the food is great, and a lovely vibe.
