The amount of snot I've produced today is quite astonishing

I can't breath through my nose so doing some very sexy mouth breathing. My nose is red raw because I've blown it so often and still the snot keeps coming.

I feel quite lousy but simultaneously quite impressed by the volume of yucky green stuff emerging from my nose.

Got any antihistamines?
Also- there’s an exercise where you hold your breath and your nose unblocks. Google it and you’ll find you tube videos.

Sudafed.

RudolphImpersonator · 29/11/2018 20:51

No, only Lemsips. Is it the strange swaying man?

Looking forward to coming home from work tomorrow already. Gurghh.

It is amazing how much snot one head can hold isn't it.

SureIusedtobetaller · 29/11/2018 20:55

I am gifted in snot production. When I have a cold people stare in repulsion.
Other people get colds and blow their noses a bit. I go through a box of tissues in a couple of hours...
Sympathy.
Hot water, squeezed lemon, honey and a chunk of ginger. Not a cure but comforting.

sackrifice · 29/11/2018 20:58

if you do -one thing tomorrow, get some sudafed.

sackrifice · 29/11/2018 20:58

the behind the counter stuff...

YouBoggleMyMind · 29/11/2018 21:01

Lemsips are shit. They don't have a full dose of anything in them.
Sudafed (OTC version as stronger), 2 x paracetamol tablets and hot lemon squash will do you better. Get well soon SmileThanks

YouBoggleMyMind · 29/11/2018 21:03

Bepantham around your nose if you have it/can buy it to help with your sore nose.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/11/2018 21:03

Hot toddy. Stand by with a box of Kleenex and a bucket though (like Niagra falls).

HellonHeels · 29/11/2018 21:06

Flannel soaked in hot water, wring it out, press on forehead and nose, tip head forward. Attempt to breathe. Repeat several times.
Also getting your head under a hot shower should help but stay there for a while to allow steam to build up.

Chelsea26 · 29/11/2018 21:09

I don’t think Sudafed works - it unbocks you and can make it worse for a drippy nose

These are better for clearing up snot I’ve found - dry you up instead of unblocking

PickAChew · 29/11/2018 21:20

I started with a bastard of a cold, 2 weeks ago, and I'm still plagued by snot and rotten sinuses. I stand with my face right in the shower and blow and blow and blow, then massage my face and blow some more. It's revolting.

I can't take sudafed, as it gives me the squits, but otrivine sinus spray has been the only thing that's let me sleep all night without waking up bunged up with a dry mouth.

The only tissues I can tolerate without ending up raw are the posh kleenex in the pinky brown and gold spotty box.

PickAChew · 29/11/2018 21:21

Chelsea, contact and sudafed have the exact same active ingredient.

sackrifice · 29/11/2018 22:39

sudafed dries up the nose so you dont get the snot in the first place.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 29/11/2018 22:46

I have shit, useless sinuses. they get blocked fairly regularly, the unblocking is a weeks long disgustng process involving more green snot and lumps of stuff than I've ever seen.
Otrivine sinusitis spray is the only thing I've found to help me sleep and breathe.
That and dissolving menthol crystals in hot water in a bowl, tea towel over head. (and close your eyes-that shit stings).
Am awaiting next snot-fest.

Have to say thought here is nothing more satisfying than when you finally clear a sinus with a big blow and lumpy tissue! what a feeling-that first clear breath!! ah Grin
