I am stuck in a job I don't like at the moment - there are aspects I do but when I got back from two back to back maternity leaves I lost out on promotion (I didn't not get them - I didn't want them)

So I accept being of lower status in the job but the people who got promoted are givinh easier tasks to friends. There is a lot of favouritism but this is hard to prove.

I have made some suggestions to how we can improve as a company and they are always met with a false smile but now I regret not going for promotion as things are very poor. I am looking for other employment but it is quite niche - wwyd?

I would look for something new. You were away for about 2 years, and the vibe has changed and you don't actually like the job.

Even if it's quite niche, there's no urgency - you don't need to be in a new job by Christmas, right? Take your time and keep your eyes open for new opportunities. If a promotion came up where you are now would you take it? Would it make you happy?

Finally, could you strike out on your own?

Appreciate that goat. I suppose I always respect management / glad of job security and I have another sideline and could branch out.
The vibe has certainly changed and the important fundamental things are not dealt with (think elderly care in nursing home / no time or attention given to patients only paperwork) as an example.

It is time to move but a big risk!
