I need repeat crp and esr doing. I've had diarrhoea which settles when avoiding wheat. joint pain and fatigue. My GP wants another ESR and CRP doing. Bit worried

I don't have any advice but didn't want to read and run. I had bloods done today too for fatigue and a lump, but I don't know what all the test acronyms mean x

ESR and CRP test for acute phase proteins which can be raised due to inflammation or infection. They are non specific tests which wont tell you why you have infection or inflammation. If the doctor wants these tests rerun it is more likely that the samples weren't taken correctly than there being anything wrong with you x

I never feel well though. The GP wants me to have these bloods then review.

What worries you? I’ve had repeat bloods done this week to confirm a diagnosis. Better for them to be sure what’s going on and then make a plan to tackle it.

Are you the poster with health anxiety who always posts about problems with their bowels?

ChubbyMummy12 · 29/11/2018 14:54

Could it be coeliac disease? They can pick that up in bloods now and if it settles when you avoid wheat that that could be the cause??

NotFeelingRight · 29/11/2018 14:56

No gimmegimme that's not me I've had the blood test for coeliac but it was negative but if I avoid wheat the symptoms get better!

Can you ask the dr for an upper endoscopy? You can get false blood results but with the endoscopy they take a biopsy and check for damage due to coeliacs disease

MissSmiley · 06/12/2018 11:31

My blood tests for coeliac we're always negative, diagnosed with biopsies and genetic test, I felt ill all the time too
Get your GP to refer you to a gastro consultant who can order the right tests

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/12/2018 11:55

When mine have been raised my GP has always said that a cold or even a tiny cut on your finger can raise levels and unless they're hugely high there's nothing to worry about.

Have you had any other blood tests? How were they?
