Urgent help stain

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 10:58

I am staying at a holiday let which has a sissal/jute/ sea grass carpet I think
And someone (not me!) spilled a glass of wine on it and left it over night.
I try a standard stain remover which I now fear has made it worse! Put bicarb on it also to try and soak it up, but it’s dried in basically

Any advice. I have a £200 deposit but will they charge me for a new carpet?
Any great ideas of how to get the stain out

I don’t have access to any fancy stain removers
I want to cry Angry

You need

Vanish gold carpet cleaner

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 11:08

They didn’t have any in the shop 😢
I accept my deposit is now gone, I just don’t want to get a bill for a whole new large carpet. Which I imagine is thousands

Get Amazon Prime & get it delivered to you for tomorrow. Then leave holiday let as soon as you’ve tackled stain

PestoSurfissimos · 29/11/2018 11:11

OR travel a bit further to a supermarket that does stock it. Think of it as today’s task

Sunisshining5346 · 29/11/2018 11:13

Get vax carpet cleaner solution if you can..leave it on neat for half an hour then remove it. Order every product possible on Amazon prime..will be cheaper than losing £200!

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 11:15

Yes I thought about amazon prime. But I’ve got to be out by 10am
I’m going to go out and see if any shops have any other stain removers

Why didn’t they wake me up then they spilled it. Fucking useless man!!!

Try a solution of biological washing powder , i traipsed mud / cat poo into my sisters hall rug last week and that’s what I spot washed it with and it got everything out I shall never buy stain remover for carpet again .

Oddsocksandmeatballs · 29/11/2018 11:19

Be careful with too much moisture on seagrass, there are some guidelines here

Oddsocksandmeatballs · 29/11/2018 11:24

This might be better. Surely the holiday let has insurance to cover this kind of thing, in which case your £200 should cover their excess.

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 11:29

That’s really helpful thank you

Found some vanish. Fingers crossed

Ichbinstoltz · 29/11/2018 12:45

Also, be upfront and tell the owners. No matter the disaster I would far rather be told about damage than discover it undeclared. But fingers crossed the Vanish will work and nobody will be able to tell.

Unescorted · 29/11/2018 12:47

Re wet it and cover with salt. Allow to dry overnight and vacuum up in the morning.

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 12:48

Yes I’m definitely going to tell them. I agree it’s a shitty thing not to.
I think I am more upset, because I am so good at taking care of places unlike the dickhead who spilt the wine, and I’m left to deal with it all because I paid for the place! They just swanned off home!

OP posts:
Sunisshining5346 · 29/11/2018 13:39

Oh no wouldn't stand for that!
Do you know who done it? Everybody would be receiving a message off me saying 'whoever spilled all the wine..thanks! Losing £200 deposit because you couldn't be bothered to clean it up.'

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 13:42

Yes sadly I do know who did it! They are very elderly and I can’t really ask them for money. Family and all!
Such is life!

I have heard that Cillit Bang black mould remover works a treat on red wine stains

Sunisshining5346 · 29/11/2018 13:48

The elderly have got a lot to answer for haven't they 😂 my grandfather is an absolute liability! If I could bubble wrap him I would!

Paininthestain · 29/11/2018 13:50

@Sunisshining5346
Grin
True!

Did suggest a one way ticket to Switzerland! They saw the funny side!

If you’re prone to falling asleep! Always put your wine glass on the side table! Don’t balance it precariously in your lap!!!

Sunisshining5346 · 29/11/2018 13:57

😂 if you find any good deals on Switzerland, let me know!!
