Is it honestly possible to gain weight without...

Looking any bigger? And clothes still fitting? I've gained half a stone in around 4 months, despite still watching what I eat (still do ww propoints in my head and use the calculator) . For context, I turned 45 a couple of months ago, had my thyroid checked and was told it's "normal"....thoughts/experiences?

Yes it is, especially if you're tall or just carry extra weight well. Also, half a stone might not be a huge amount relative to how much you weighed before. How do you feel in yourself?

Bluesheep8 · 29/11/2018 06:32

Thanks for replying. I weighed around 9 stone 8 before and am now 10 stone. I'm 5 ft 5 and feel huge if honest.i lost 5 stone a number if yrs ago and kept it off for 12 years so have always been conscious of it.

Ive definitely gained some weight over the years as I've got older / post having a child. But can still fit in fitted clothes that are nearly 10 years old. Guess it depends where you gain the weight. Mine is mainly on my hips and bottom and that seems to affect clothes fitting less than eg tummy area

Ime 1 - 1 1/2 stone = 1 dress size.

Thanks for the replies, you've reassured me somewhat. It's just impossible to work out where this half stone has come from iyswim, I wouldn't mind if there WAS a reason, e.g. over eating etc. Then I could do something about it!

You can if it's mostly muscle. I weight thr same as I did 4 months after giving birth when I was a size 16-18. I'M not a size 14 but I do lifting so I reckon I've gained about 5kg of muscle in 3 years.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 29/11/2018 12:25

I meant I'm NOW a size 14

Bluesheep8 · 29/11/2018 12:51

It's definitely not muscle, quite the opposite if I'm honest! Thanks for reading though

thechinesechicken actually, I think I HAVE put weight on around my hips and tummy. Clothes still fit the same though so can't work out if it's real or not iyswim

Unless you're wearing tight clothes daily you don't always notice weight gain. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and my clothes have just stopped fitting but I'm much bigger than I was a few weeks ago. Day-to-day clothes have enough wiggle room to accommodate weight fluctuations to a certain point. If you put on another half stone you may find yours don't fit any more!

From the opposite perspective, I've lost almost a stone and a half and I haven't dropped a dress size and nor do I look much different Sad
