If you have tattoos, do you regret them? (And have you ever had removal?)

I have a few;

I got 17 stars on my hip when I was 16, a fairy on my shoulder when I was drunk in Barcelona... stars on my foot on a hen weekend and a Chinese symbol (which probably doesn’t!) but I think means Star (embarrassed face) on my lower back. It’s not even in the middle...!

All I have to say is.. I regret them all entirely. I get that tattoos look very cool on some people, but I’m not one of them. The hip stars and lower back tattoo are really only seen by my DH / kids... (although I still want them gone!) but the upper shoulder and ankle are on view and I always feel really embarrassed when people see them.

Does anyone else regret them? And equally... if anyone has had them removed, was it really awful?!

Oh yes, got one on my back when I was 19 and I hate it now, I don't wear anything backless.
A friend had a rosary tattoo removed from her ankle/foot said it was worth it.

I have a baby tiger over dd1's nameon my shoulder. A unicorn head on my hip. Lizard/rose on my breast and dragon on my back. Thet aint great tbh so my main regret is not having something more artistic done but i absolutely dont regret them. Part of my history that mafe me who i am. Im 48 and id definitely consider more

I have three. Two of them I forget are there so wouldn’t mind getting them removed as I’m not bothered about them. But the third one I really like, had it ten years and still love it

I have one up my back (as in going up my back, not on my lower back), Stars and swirly stuff! Basically I was babysitting one night and watched 5 episodes of Miami Ink back to back and went out the next day and got it. I was 18. I wouldn’t have it done now but I don’t regret it.

I do fancy having something else though. My friend has 13 and they are all amazing.

Nope. Got one on my back (lower right) and it's pretty. I can't see it unless I'm looking in mirror so I forget I have it

MulticolourMophead · 02/12/2018 23:40

Don't regret mine, although I want to adjust a couple of the designs.

YerAuntFanny · 02/12/2018 23:42

I have 2, 1 on each forearm and I'd love another but can't decide on placement.

I don't regret either but I was in my 30's when I got them so I had thought long and hard about them.

I have 3, I thoroughly enjoyed having them done, but not sure I would get them now. I needed the thrill at the time, needed to prove something to myself.

One I definitely wish I hadn't had. I didn't like it straight after it was done, went elsewhere to have it agreed and it became much bigger than I'd wanted, so no I'm not happy with it. I wouldn't have it removed though. No one sees it unless I go swimming as it's on my hip. The other two I like but not sure it's my style really.

I got one when I was a teenager and I definitely regret it!

itsthemenopausenotme · 02/12/2018 23:46

Altered not agreed ... Hmm

I have two small runic symbols on my right forearm. I don’t regret them but, even though I thought at 22 that what they meant to me then would remain eternal; it hasn’t, and I no longer feel one way or the other about them. They’re there, and feel a part of me because they’ve been there so long, that’s all I can say.

I got a gecko on my hip bone at the front when I was a size 8 20-something. Two kids, a couple of decades and several dress sizes later, it's more of a Komodo dragon, but I still like it. You couldn't pay me to get it out in public though.

OP I'm having mine removed at the moment, some quite big ones too. It is not pleasant feeling having it done but they have faded a lot already from 3/6 treatments. It doesn't sound like yours are massive which would make it a lot easier to have done. I'd recommend finding a place with a Pico laser if you decide to go for removal. I did like mine and in a way I still do, I just don't feel I want them on myself any more and I am tired of wearing cardigans in hot weather!
