To make it more socially acceptable then just eating it out of a can..
Any recipes?

Do you mean evaporated or condensed milk? I think carnation do both.

If evaporated milk pur it over tinned peach slices and tuck in. Or make a pack of jelly with half the water and when it's started to set whip in the required volume of evaporated milk. Delicious out of a bowl or if you pour it over a butter and biscuit base it makes a yummy tart.

If condensed milk please don't eat it out of the can or I'll gip. Make caramel or toffee or banoffee pie or something else sickly.

I was coming to say banoffee cheesecake if you mean condensed milk, James Martin does a lovely one

RibbonAurora · 28/11/2018 15:49

Definitely definitely pour over canned peaches - the ones in syrup btw not the 'healthy' ones in sweetened water blek. Or get a pack of raspberry jelly and substitute half the water for carnation, pour over madeleines or plain pound cake and leave to set. Bliss.

I came on to say tinned peaches as well. A great memory of a Sunday teatime treat growing up.

Evaporated milk over Christmas pudding brings back childhood memories for me! And if it's condensed, on white sliced bread :) - lush. (I've had one in the last decade but it was gorgeous and sinful and a thousand other words!)

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 28/11/2018 15:54

Carnation have a website with lots of recipes on it.

Avegemitesandwich · 28/11/2018 15:56

What's the difference between evaporated milk and condensed milk? I thought they were the same thing?

AndThereSaw · 28/11/2018 15:56

We did a Blyton themed Brownie Holiday and fed them all sorts of thing they had never tried before. Tinned peaches with evaporated milk was one of those things. Went down a storm!

AndThereSaw · 28/11/2018 15:59

Avegemitesandwich
Evaporated milk is thicker than normal milk and creamy tasting.
Condensed milk has lots and lots of added sugar and is much thicker, more like a milky sugar paste.
Quite different: evaporated you can use as a pour-over for fruit or jelly. Condensed is really a cooking ingredient (though some dirty folk manage to eat it raw).

Theknacktoflying · 28/11/2018 16:01

(sweetened) condensed milk has sugar in it ...

Rockbird · 28/11/2018 16:03

Pour it over tinned pears. Yum.

LokiDokiArtichoki · 28/11/2018 16:04

Make fudge, just like my nana used to

RomanyRoots · 28/11/2018 16:05

I second fudge, my dd makes it and it's lovely with condensed milk.

InfantaSybilla · 28/11/2018 16:06

Make fudge

Abitlost2015 · 28/11/2018 16:10

Mix it with coffe and drink it

CovenofMiLsfromHades · 28/11/2018 16:12

www.janespatisserie.com/2017/12/04/terrys-chocolate-orange-millionaires-shortbread/ dd made this amazing chocolate orange millionaire shortbread at the weekend. Even though we made the classic mistake of mixing up evaporated milk with condensed the caramel still worked ok but came out a bit more runny rather than very thickly set. It tastes great though and would be nice as a
caramel sauce on icecream or something. So if you wanted to make caramel sauce I recommend following the caramel recipe but using a tin of evap milk for that.

yomellamoHelly · 28/11/2018 16:13

Millionaire's Shortbread every time

SugarandVinegar · 28/11/2018 16:13

Could do a rice pudd with it

MaMisled · 28/11/2018 16:15

Pour over tinned pears!

OneStepMoreFun · 28/11/2018 16:15

If it's the canned milk it has to be poured over tinned fruit for a completely retro pudding. Or, at a push, poured over tinned ginger pudding.
If you mean that gooey stuff - you can turn it into caramel and make a banoffee pie or a sticky toffee pudding. or you can melt a block of dark chocolate and stir it in to make a really thick, sticky chocolate fudge topping and middle for chocolate cake.

PETRONELLAS · 28/11/2018 16:23

Over a banana. I’ve been wanting this so much! Hate milk and cream but adore evap.

notacooldad · 28/11/2018 16:29

The kids I work with made apple crumble with even milk last week. It was fantastic. Its so good I am putting it as next week's activity when im on shift!!

We usually make sweets with condensed milk. I'll admit on here that I try to put the used can to one side to see if there's any left!!

notacooldad · 28/11/2018 16:34

even milk! Evap milk of course!

carnationmilkcraving · 28/11/2018 18:05

Evap makes a gloriously creamy coffee or hot chocolate. I drank glasses of it straight from the can when pregnant
