Work haven't paid me

NC as quite identifying.

I recently started working for Boots the Chemist on a Saturday. I have worked two Saturdays and was told I woould be paid on 28th.

I can't find any contact details for HR/payroll and our shop is closed today because of a local incident so unable to contact my line manager.

I'm panicking a bit as google seems to indicate Boots are notorious for this and we needed that money to tide us over till "proper" payday.

Does anyone have any idea who else I might be able to contact to resolve it? Or is it normal to not be paid as I haven't done many shifts so far?

Contact another branch and ask for the details?

Although sounds like you might have missed the cut off date for payment this month?

BTW I think I might know the local incident you are talking about!

PinkFizzz · 28/11/2018 13:26

I did wonder if I might have missed the cut off but it was never mentioned to me that I may not be paid this time around.

I thought about contacting another branch but wasn't sure they'd just hand out details like that.

The incident is in a town with an A name, is it the same one?

That’s the one. Can you pop into another branch with your id/name badge?

PinkFizzz · 28/11/2018 13:50

I don't have my name badge yet as my uniform hasn't arrived.

I'm going to call the bigger store and see if they can give me any advice. Thanks!

Mumsnet, thank you for your quick response.

I think if you only started two weeks ago you probably missed the cut off for this month and will get it next month. Where I work, all payroll changes have to be submitted by 7th for pay on 26th.

In cases of hardship it may be possible for them to arrange ad hoc payment that would be deducted from the pay when it arrives, but tbh, in these circumstances it's not unusual to have to wait so I'm not sure that would be considered a reasonable request.

Were you specifically told you would get your first pay on 28 Nov or that payday was 28th?

Most companies will usually arrange a salary advance for a mid month starter. They can do it by same day transfer now so I’m sure they will be able to sort it our for you.
