So; can i ask, when you skip a period or when periods were late because of perimenopause, do you/did you still experience typical symptoms of menstruation at the time you would have been on? Sore boobs ect?

Thanks for reading.

Sometimes yes, it was a funny phase because you’re not sure if your peri or pregnant. I’ve recently gone past 12 months with no period but had probably 7 years of periods being all over the place and I now think that the anxiety I was suffering was all part of it too.

Many thanks ChangoMutney.

I rarely get sore boobs around period time to be honest. But i have now! Period 4 days late.

I didn't when my periods were coming infrequently, only when I would end up having one, although I have had some of those symptoms in the last year where I've not had a period at all.

I only had a year in Peri though, and I've only got 2 months to go until I can say it's been 12 months since my last period.

Laiste · 28/11/2018 09:07

OK so i'm quite possibly just late.

New to this :) Been regular as clockwork up till now.

Yes. The feeling of coming on but nothing happens. Then other times my period starts with no warning. I just don't know where I am with them. I went three months without one and thought yes! The end. But no, came back with a vengeance.

Laiste · 28/11/2018 09:16

Did you all keep spending a fortune on preg. tests?! Or just trust to luck and wait it out?

This is ridiculous! Grin

I did a test when I was 3 months late once...would have been a miracle because I'm sterilised and he's had the snip, but Peri gets you thinking crazy stuff!

If you could actually get pregnant it might be an idea to do one just in case.

Sheitgeist · 28/11/2018 09:55

I have no clue what my periods are up to: so irregular and unpredictable. Sometimes I get premenstrual symptoms (cramping, sore boobs, etc.) sometimes not. And when I do it can be any time in cycle.

I did read that you can have anovulatory cycles in peri which will be different to those where you ovulate.

I recently did a menopause test (bought in wilko for about £3) which confirmed my high level of FSH.
Just wish those periods would disappear now!

Rio18 Grin @ your miracle panic.

Sheitgeist - Sometimes I get premenstrual symptoms (cramping, sore boobs, etc.) sometimes not. And when I do it can be any time in cycle.

I think this is what i wanted to hear! I feel a bit better.

However I think i'm going to buy a preg test later today. I'm 50, youngest DC is 5. I have been a regular 28/30 day'er till this very month, but today I'm on day 34 with really sore boobs and I can't relax! Aaarrggghh.

Mine are 23 days apart this last year (I'm 40) Does that mean perimenopause or are they speeding up to stop abruptly?

Abra1de · 28/11/2018 10:19

I had this, yes. In some ways it was worse than having the real thing as there wasn’t the relief.

SleepySofa · 28/11/2018 10:22

I seem to be entering the perimenopause because my periods are really irregular - though blood tests have shown normal hormone levels, I'm told this doesn't really mean much as they fluctuate in perimenopause. Anyway, if I miss a period, I sometimes get some symptoms but no bleeding, and sometimes there's just nothing at all.

ToastedSandwichObsession · 28/11/2018 10:56

I've had a hysterectomy but god in perimenopause my boobs got so sore sometimes. Never get them now though due to I think coming out the other side but without periods I can't be sure.

Laiste · 28/11/2018 14:57

Thanks for continuing answers.

It definitely sounds as if i'm worrying about nothing.
but i've bought the test and i'll do it in the morning
