Twas two months before Christmas a gift left to find
A tree decoration, but a particular kind
A small elephant made from bristle buri brush
Was the source of this years panic and fuss
Searching shops for the particular design
It soon became clear I would need to venture online
But whilst online stores had other animals galore
They just didn't have the elephant I was searching for
So I turned to wise Mumsnet, people spread far and wide
They were full of suggestions, yes the nest of vipers they tried
Yet the trouble with Nelly was the sea in between
USA only, with postage costs to make you scream
The along came a poster by the name of bubbles
Who took drastic steps to solve all my elephant troubles
Bartering with friends she didn't give in
Send Nelly or the custard powder goes in the bin
So Nelly was purchased a deal was struck
Bubbles an international negotiator, I couldn't believe my luck
Then came few weeks of waiting, watching for mail
But Bubbles was determined the mission wouldn't fail
Through Heathrow Nelly cleared customs, creating quite a stir
An elephant as a gift so much better than myrrh
Now onto the courier a dodgy white Yodel van
A very modern twist on the ancient wise man
Nestled beside laptops, soft toys and a bin
The jolly yodel man delivered Nelly with a grin
A quick rest with Bubbles her daughter and dog
Then onto the post office through wintery fog
A knock on my door, a package for me.
An elephant decoration, just 3 weeks after my plea
But reader beware, remember lurking Internet dangers
Like the chances of crying due to the kindness of strangers.
