Quick answer needed, is it true you can only get Amazon Prime at a reduced rate as a student for one year?

I thought, as long as you were a student you could apply for Prime at a reduced rate but it seems to be you're only allowed it for one year & then you have to pay the full amount? Anyone here have experience?

No. DS has had it for two years, just renewed at student rate.

Reallybadidea · 27/11/2018 17:44

I've had it for, I think, 3 and a bit years. When it got to 3 they emailed me and said I had to provide proof I was in education still and then they would only let me have it for 1 more year. So 4 in total.

Humpf, well I've only had it one year & now they're trying to bump me up to the full fee Hmm

I had amazon prime as a student in my third year. I might be wrong but as I signed up as a student I thought I would get that until they rescinded the offer. I am due to pay the reduced rate of 39.99 come September, which in my account, as long as I pay this will give me another years access. Pretty sure I signed up for it originally in 2016, which gave me six months free then the reduced rate.

I've had mine 2 years so far and due to renew in March. Still a student and will be for 3 more years! Hoping the student rate will continue for all of that.

Piffpaffpoff · 27/11/2018 17:52

I think it’s a maximum of 4

Charley50 · 27/11/2018 17:52

I've had it student price for two, maybe three years! I'm not even a student! Grin

theworldistoosmall · 27/11/2018 17:59

Yes, it's more than a year although you had to state what year you are finishing. I put 10 haha so will be interesting to see when they realise.

userblablabla · 27/11/2018 18:00

You may have to reconfirm that you’re still a student

Reallybadidea · 27/11/2018 18:00

Yeah just get on the online chat or email them and say that you're still a student.

anniehm · 27/11/2018 18:16

Dh has had it for 4 years (he's staff but all you need is a .ac.uk email address - they wrote to staff to tell them!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 27/11/2018 18:31

Amazons own help page says you can get the £39.99 membership for up to four years; with automatic renewal. After you graduate or at the end of the fourth year, whichever comes first; you are converted to a standard account.

They do reserve the right to verify that you are student at any point though.
