Fucksake. Congestion charge

Flatasmytitties · 27/11/2018 16:49

Drove through a congestion zone and forgot to pay the charge (don't ask.. my fault but infuriating as I'd actually tried and it didn't go through so I was supposed to remember to try again and got distracted)

Just dawned me I didn't pay it. This was 3 weeks ago. Internet tells me I'll get a ridiculously high fine. But having seen the other thread about the poor lady who had a bailiff turn up over £2.50 toll fee I'm panicking. When will this fine arrive!? Im scared I'll miss it but surely it should have been here by now?

Google giving me nothing!

Sorry not much help but have a similar question, apologies for de-railing. DD drove from Gloucester to Whitechapel east London 2 weeks ago, inexperienced driver (madness, I said she should get train), Would this journey incur a congestion charge - DD has no idea and by the sounds of it could be in for a hefty fee. Any info pls.

KittyLikesMagic · 27/11/2018 17:02

When we got caught (there were roadworks on our usual route which avoided the charge zone but we didn't realise this until we got there, and also didn't realise we were in the charging zone!) we got a letter about it about three weeks afterwards.

Fleurchamp · 27/11/2018 17:05

eastmids totally depends whether she drove through or round the congestion zone.

MartaHallard · 27/11/2018 17:05

DD drove from Gloucester to Whitechapel east London

Depends what route she took through London. She probably just skirted round the outside of the zone, but she'd need to know her route and look up the zone to be sure.

Fleurchamp · 27/11/2018 17:06

Also on day and time.
Whitechapel isn't in the zone.

EastMids2 · 27/11/2018 17:14

Sorry but don't know DD's exact route - she used mobile phone for satnav directions. It was on a Saturday morning/early afternoon. Maybe she's OK but must definitely plan ahead in future. Thank you.

This is the congestion charge phone contact info service, maybe give them a call and ask OP? They should have a record if there are charges outstanding.

Congestion charge doesn't apply at the weekend @EastMids2

EastMids2 · 27/11/2018 17:49

Ah Squeaver that's a relief, thank you for letting us know. Still say DD needs to plan properly in future but she'll learn!

I work in accounts for a big company so I pay all PCN's , it can take a few weeks or can be straight away for it to arrive so it may have been 10th October of the alleged incident but the date of issue is 27th November so then 14 days to pay at the reduced rate from the date of issue it may just take a while to process ( probably cause they have so many ) I wouldn't worry until you receive. Some congestion charges in some boroughs are warnings at first . I'd just pay it and learn from experience they are a pain in arse you are not alone .

Flatasmytitties · 27/11/2018 18:38

Thank you stressedmum. Suddenly panicked that it wouldn't come paper form and I genuinely wouldn't have known about it or some madness.

Still so cross at myself!
