What to do with cooked chicken?

Got a whole roasted chicken from Sainsbury's this afternoon.
It just smelt amazing and I was starving so I picked one up.

I have no idea what to do with it now though Confused
I need some inspiration, my mind has gone totally blank.

This always happens to me!
Crusty bread, salad and some crispy potato slices is the usual route I go down.
Enjoy your delicious chicken.

Wraps
Chicken and bacon pie

Would just do vegetables and some nice potato dish to go with it at this time of year. Too bbbrrrrrr... for salad in this house just now.

Risotto

I'd go with the crusty bread and coleslaw route for tonight (and probably a lovely glass of wine), and any leftovers in either a jar of sauce with rice/pasta tomorrow or to make some chicken soup (good for the soul!) to try to make the bad weather seem more bearable.

Ah I knew MNers would come to my rescue!

I need something warm and comforting.

Chicken soup and crusty bread sounds amazing or a chicken type pie.

I've got some mini baguettes too, so may have a chicken and stuffing roll.

Chicken noodle soup, with coconut milk, thai curry paste to flavour. Sautee shredded leeks/spring onions, finely shred mangetout, add some baby sweetcorn, then chicken stock -- simmer, then add dried egg noodles and cook for 3/4 mins, and some sliced red peppers.

Or how about a jacket potato and make some coronation chicken (mayo/yog with curry powder, raisins if you like them, and the shredded chicken).

Or just a delicious sandwich! Or a pie - add mushrooms, wholegrain mustard, cream, and top with a premade pastry sheet and bake.

Yum. I want chicken now.

Had a delicious chicken curry last night made from left over roast chicken (and a jar of curry sauceGrin) Served with rice and naan. I added peppers courgette and mushroom. Mmmmm

soft white bread. butter. jar of good mayonnaise.
Stand by kitchen counter.
Chop lump off warm chicken and cram into mouth. Follow with intermittent chunks of bread, butter, mayo as required.
When sated, wrap leftover chicken in clingfilm and place in fridge.
If chicken decimated before satiation, use the bones to make stock/soup for another day.
Do not, under any circumstances, allow delicious smelling chicken to cool before tasting or you'll lose the moment.

Stir dry.
Chicken avocado tacos (or wraps or baguette)
With curried or spicy rice (with veg)
Chicken bacon pepper melts
Chicken Alfredo
Chicken stroganoff (add broccoli too)
Chicken and black bean soup
Spicy chicken and veg hot pot

You lot are spot on! I know where to come when I'm lacking in future.

In fact, would one of you kind people mind doing my meal plan for the week?
I have no inspiration at all! Just end up eating stodgy, comfort food.

@AndThereSaw this was my exact vision when I picked the chicken up.
Standing at the counter shovelling it in Grin

@Mondrian the chicken melts sound lovely.

I misread the title first time, thought it said ‘what to do with cooked children’ Grin

Chicken bacon pepper melts
Fry the bacon in pan, add bell pepper strips - when done pat dry with paper towel. Turn grill or oven on, zap the chicken in microwave till hot. Place chicken in oven tray, top with bacon & peppers, cover with cheese and a pinch of crushed pepper corn (and tomato if you like). Grill till cheese is melted.

Spinach & mushroom Chicken melt
Saute onions & mushrooms in a pan until tender, add spinach till tender. Turn the grill on, zap the chicken in microwave so it hot and then place on grill pan, top with onion mixture and then cover with cheese and a pinch of pepper. Grill till cheese is melted.

Xiaoxiong · 27/11/2018 16:06

Andthere I do this but the bread is a garlic baguette fresh out of the oven, and the mayo is aioli. Vampires kept at bay Grin
