I've turned into a moaner and I can't stop. I'm moaning about everyone and everything and I'm boring myself stupid. How do I stop?

And you're moaning about being a moaner. There's no hope for you!

Start and finish your day thinking about what you’re grateful for. Look at the sky and the world around. Breathe. Be glad you’re alive and hopefully relatively healthy. Think of positive topics of conversation before you see people and steer along those lines.

I hear you, OP! I'm a moaner and practising gratitude just doesn't work for me Sad

TeeBee · 27/11/2018 13:34

It's a habit, a lazy one. When you find yourself doing it, think of three positive things that you are grateful for and go and express at least one to somebody else. So thank somebody for something, or tell them what positive thing they bring to you, or tell them what you're grateful for. Do it every time you find yourself moaning until you change your habits.

Go outside somewhere pretty. I find it lifts my mood.

I do this sometimes. Tell myself to STFU. Doesn't change the thoughts, but no one else has to listen to it. Luckily, I don't have that need to fill every silence.
On the flip side, I've barely said anything in the last decade.
