Veganism all over BBC at the moment?

I’ve just turned the TV on to yet another BBC article promoting veganism. Can anyone tell me why they seem to be having a bit of a promo campaign at the moment?

I have no problem with anyone choosing not (or not able) to eat animal products. I have at least 4 vegan friends. I do wonder if we’re being ‘intentionally influenced’ by the national mouthpiece though. Which I do have a problem with.

Is it promoting veganism or just a cookery show with vegan food?

Surely they're reflecting the recent rise in interest rather than driving it?

The BBC isn't neutral about anything - otherwise they'd never employ Chris Packham on Towniefile Grin- although people assume it must be. Could well be promoting veganism. Or could just be tapping into the trend.

I see loads of stuff about veganism everywhere, to be fair. I don't think the BBC are any worse than the rest of the MSM. So long as they give a balanced view I don't have a problem. I have no plans to go vegan any time soon personally speaking.

Animal farming, particularly cattle farming, is a bit of an environmental disaster, as I understand it. Maybe that’s why the push? I don’t see any issue with being influenced to eat less meat and dairy. It’s no longer a benign thing to do.

They just seem to have a bit of a theme running, ‘tis all. Am just getting a bit bored with the similarity on screen. Could understand it if they were promoting Veganuary or something.

It’s the latest fad. When society is done with it (and leave it to people who are just everyday vegans) the Beeb will be too.

RiverTam · 26/11/2018 20:47

Do you think it’s a fad? More and more people are waking up to the environmental consequences of our meat and dairy heavy diet. Why be dismissive of those concerns?

IncyWincyGrownUp · 26/11/2018 22:53

I mean the current massive hype is a fad. There are a lot of conscious vegans who will still be about after the fadsters have jumped to the next big shiny thing they can brag about on Instagram.
