30 hours childcare - child not found

I tried to apply for the 30 hours childcare code today, which I'm hoping we will use from January. I recieved a message about an hour later on the childcare account
saying that I was not eligible for the funding as my child could not be found. She very much exists!! Has anyone had this? The only resolution I was offered was to submit a written appeal which I'm not holding out much hope will be sorted in the next 30 days.

Do you receive child benefit for her?

ineedmoresleepnow · 26/11/2018 22:12

No I've never claimed it. Is this why they have rejected it?

I've been warned about this. I'm currently pregnant and earn too much for Child Benefit, but I've been advised I need to fill out the form (even though I won't claim it) otherwise I won't get the 15 free hours aged 3 that everyone gets. Such a silly system. Hope you get it sorted, OP.

Yes happened to me - I just called the helpline and they found DC2. Never claimed child benefit due to earnings

LIZS · 26/11/2018 22:36

You should register for cb anyway, to you get up to 13 years of ni credits if not otherwise earning enough, even if you opt out of receiving payments.

dementedpixie · 26/11/2018 22:43

You should claim child benefit even if you opt out of payment. This protects NI credits and means your child automatically gets their NI number when they turn 16

RightOcciputAnterior · 27/11/2018 23:41

What if you don't qualify for CB because both parents earn too much, though? That's the boat I'll be in and I don't want the faff of repaying it on my tax return.

timeisnotaline · 27/11/2018 23:42

Just call them. I don’t claim child benefit etc

Hermano · 27/11/2018 23:44

You can apply but choose not to be paid. That's what we did as we earn too much.
I think the options are :
Apply and get paid (then repay if you earn too much)
Apply and not get paid
Don't apply

I think the form is fairly clear on these options, that's my memory of it anyway...

Thanks for all the replies and help. I did not include her middle name when I first applied so I redid the application including this. It now shows as my current application on the account but no info on progress or confirmation of this application in the secure messages.
I called and they were totally unhelpful basically saying they can do nothing and i have to write and appeal
