and I'm still very sore Sad I feel like early labour, the feeling where you can't sit still and get comfy. I'm hugely bloated, can't get my jeans done up without pain and can feel pressure between my legs, rather again like labour, the pressure of baby's head on cervix kind of thing - is this all normal?

I felt the GP/nurse were very minimising (to the point of there there it's not that bad now is it comment when I almost jumped off the bed after an intense searing pain during fitting) so I don't trust that their comments of it'll be fine after half an hour and a paracetamol are entirely accurate!!

do you have a sexual health/contraceptive advice clinic near where you live? They're much better at coil fitting than GP surgeries, in my experience. When I had mine fitted, they scanned me afterwards to confirm and show me that it was in the correct place. The pressure and discomfort you're experiencing doesn't sound normal at all.

I had a coil (copper not mirena) in May, and the only bad pain was on the day.
I'd get it checked out

Doesn't sound normal to me. I'd be looking for help

All feels a lot better today.
Still bloated but no pain or discomfort Smile

I guess everyone is different in recovery times.

Still sounds a bit wrong, I’d keep an eye out for infection - fever/flu like symptoms/discharge. May be fine though.

I had pain/ bleeding for weeks but I have other issues. Are you still bleeding from having it put in?

FoofFighter · 27/11/2018 16:55

No I've only had a tiny bleed about an hour after fitting, no discharge

It's probably worth getting checked 👍

I had almost 3 weeks of contraction like pain. some days were worse than others. a few days felt like bloating, most others felt like I was in active labour.

it was horrific. I went to the gp, who sent me to a&e who checked for an infection which I didn't have. then after 20 days i had an emergency gynae appointment. they said the coil was not placed correctly and was causing my cervix to contract. they wanted to adjust it and I refused. I had to argue with 3 members of staff and threaten to take it out myself before it was removed.

it's out now and I will not be getting another. at points I really thought I was going to die of pain and was told to have a lie down with a hot water bottle.

please demand that this is checked out. I am furious with myself that I allowed myself to be patted on the back and told everyone gets cramps. I doubted my own pain even though I know I have a high pain threshold I refused to believe a medical professional would leave me in such pain even with a raised blood pressure raised heart rate (all signs of pain) when I was essentially in labour for 20 days.
