Does berocca work? Or pointless gimmick?

I've used it before but I can't remember. Think I might just buy it anyway for the vitamin hit and fluorescent wee.

December is looking insane.

I love the taste and touch wood seem to get less colds than my family! It's always on offer somewhere so I think it's worth it

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2018 22:13

I could do with something too, but there's so many tonics and pick me ups to choose from.

DropZoneOne · 25/11/2018 22:20

Berocca made no difference to me ... Berocca boost on the other hand has teally helped. I was getting horrid mid afternoon slumps, but now i have one of those in 500ml of water throughout the afternoon

OhMrTumnus · 25/11/2018 22:21

When I feel a cold may be coming on, I reach for the Berocca and First Defence. Does the trick for me.

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/11/2018 22:21

Dp 85 year old nan swears by them to get her through the day 🤷‍♀️

Sparklingbrook · 25/11/2018 22:21

Is it fizzy?

Coached · 25/11/2018 22:23

I find that Meta Tonic better than Berrocca but both always work for me if I’m feeling run down.

I use it. But I often wonder if just drinking a pint of water is the biggest part of it.

hmmwhatatodo · 25/11/2018 22:44

Didn’t do anything for me, nor did meta tonic or the floradix type stuff.

JaneJeffer · 25/11/2018 22:47

It's good for a quick boost but it's too bloody expensive to buy! Metatone is better and more affordable.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 25/11/2018 22:52

I get the cheap own brand ones in the supermarkets but I don’t think they are as effective.

MorrisZapp · 26/11/2018 08:05

Are you meant to take it when you feel run down or hungover, or all the time? Does it contain any chemical 'upper', making it unsuitable for bedtime use?

Is metatone a drink too? Is it bearable, some of these drinks are grim. I remember wanting my granny's because it was fizzy, but spitting it out :)

I found it gave me a big pick up, but then I properly crashed mid-afternoon! I would try a tonic that is a bit more gentle.

AdamNichol · 26/11/2018 08:57

Vitamins are good for you (though cause harm in excess). There's no evidence that vitamin C does anything for you once you have a cold (stable door after ship's sailed and all that), but its a reasonable preventative alongside sensible precautions.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/11/2018 08:59

It’s a vitamin supplement in drink form. Not really any different to taking any other vitamin supplement. It’s good to be mindful of your vitamin and mineral intake, same as being mindful of eating the right foods, but it won’t cure colds.

JaneJeffer · 26/11/2018 09:06

Morris Metatone is a tonic in a bottle that you take by the teaspoon. Tastes a bit alcoholic!

Luxembourgmama · 26/11/2018 09:13

IT definitely works in terms of extra energy. For preventing colds i'm not so sure.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/11/2018 09:14

Eating a more nutrient dense, more plant based diet with lots of vitamins would give you as much energy if not more than a Barocca, and would be better for you all round.

flubbadubble · 26/11/2018 09:21

I take metatone tonic when I'm feeling run down, I do notice when I haven't taken it. It's worth it for what myself and dp call the "perfect poops" Blush
