For me it’s bedding. Even when I was on the bare bones of my arse I still wouldn’t buy polyester and saved saved for one set of perfect white company bedding. It’s lasted years.

If I had to chose

Pasta
Shoes
Hair colour

HotdogsareDogs · 25/11/2018 15:05

Food things. Lurpak, heinz tomato soup. And shoes, I don't buy lots or expensive but Clarks for work and other sturdy brands for outside work.
I buy supermarket clothes and bedding, various mixed brands for make up and skin care.

HotdogsareDogs · 25/11/2018 15:06

And I like Flash cleaners and Fairy washing up liquid. Not bothered re laundry detergent.

AnnabelleLecter · 25/11/2018 15:12

Holidays
Food
Best theatre/event tickets
Mattress, duvet and pillows (must be wool)
Sofas
Crockery
Jewelry

Lots more...

Hen2018 · 25/11/2018 15:15

Children’s school shoes.

HildaZelda · 25/11/2018 15:17

Private health insurance. I wouldn't be without it.

MaverickSnoopy · 25/11/2018 15:18

Children's clothes - always buy thick warm clothes for winter, lots of layers and good long lasting quality. Always buy more expensive coats that wash well in the hope that we can hand down to younger DC.

Household items e.g. Bed, mattresses, kettle, washing machine, fridge freezer. I don't have an expensive coffee machine though, just a cheap one. I only buy the best of the necessities in the hope that they will last longer. So we have a Dualit kettle and Meile fridge etc but own brand coffee machine. I came to the conclusion one day when we were on tin opener number 7 in 2 years after buying lots of cheapie ones. I didn't really move onto appliances until our Beko dishwasher proved to be quite shocking in the first 6 months. Got a refund and upgraded to a Bosch.

Knittink · 25/11/2018 15:27

I spend less than we could afford on children's clothes tbh. They grow out of them so quickly and I have a girl and a boy, so handing down is limited. Besides which neither of them are fussed about brands or clothes. I think you have to go to quite a high price before the quality is noticeably better.

Laundry/cleaning products

Coffee, hate instant.

Bedding sets

Pet food, cheaper stuff seems to upset their stomachs

Unicornandbows · 25/11/2018 15:47

Lurpak salted butter

SilverySurfer · 25/11/2018 15:50

Number one is free range meat.

NotCitrus · 25/11/2018 15:52

Chocolate (bars of)
Boots - but as Vimes says, it's actually a saving. £150 but been re-heeled 8 times and re-soled once, lasted 6 years of walking 10000 steps a day
Foundation and lipstick - again, cost-effective
Meat for roasting. As my mum taught me, I stock the freezer with reduced Taste the Difference stuff
Jam.

Ohyesiam · 25/11/2018 15:54

Foundation.
Chanel. It’s invisible and incredibly flattering. Everyone thinks I’m naturally beautiful, mwah ha ha.

NaToth · 25/11/2018 15:58

Food. I grew up hungry. That won't happen here.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 25/11/2018 16:02

Shoes and boots.

Not really TOP dollar, but it's the one item where you can't get good quality without spending good money. And I've really tried.

Frenchfancy · 25/11/2018 16:06

Shoes and bras. I'm a skinflint for most things and never buy anything full price, except shoes and bras.

something2say · 25/11/2018 16:13

Most of my clothes designer brand but from eBay, so no real expenditures there. But good stuff, cashmere etc, had about fifteen different cashmere jumpers now.

Not food or coffee, not bothered by that.

Got to have a good amplifier and speakers tho.....

Got to have good sheepskin mules.....

All clothing natural fibres, no man made shite....

The main thing tho is bedding. Winter summer quilt is superb, and hundred quid in the sale bed covers. Don't skimp there.

tablelegs · 25/11/2018 16:18

Bin bags. The cheap ones just won't do.

Redgreencoverplant · 25/11/2018 16:22

I was always told that the things you should never scrimp on are shoes and underwear and I stick by that. I also agree with spending money on glasses.

Polkapjs · 25/11/2018 16:23

Running shoes

darkriver198868 · 25/11/2018 16:40

Diet coke. I have tried cheaper brands but, diet coke just does it for me

AvoidingDM · 25/11/2018 16:40

Bedding and shoes.

I wish it was easier to find dressy ladies clothing in natural fibers. That would also be a priority. Mens and boys its so easy to get cotton shirts.

Watto1 · 25/11/2018 16:44

Haircuts and glasses. I wear them both every waking moment of the day so I'm happy to spend a little more on them.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 25/11/2018 16:46

Shoes and mattress/bedding.

A very wise lady at work told me once ‘Spend good money on your shoes and your bed cause if you ay in one you’re in the other.’

Peachpebbles · 25/11/2018 16:47

Toilet paper
