Peripheral friendships

Wondering if anyone feels the same...I have plenty of friends and am often out for coffee/dinner etc. They are all from different groups, eg: school, different work places, friends through children etc.

Sometimes I just feel I'm on the periphery of loads of groups rather than in one if that makes sense? I went to a do last night and had a good time, lots of chatting etc but kind of felt that if I wasn't there nobody would have missed me....

Not trying to start a pity party, just wondering if anyone else feels like this?

I always felt like this at school too. Do you think we need to do something to change it or is it just the way some people are? How do the 'in crowd' type people do it?!
