Christmas Tree and decorations up already? Please tell me why

Out and about the last 2 evenings I've noticed a few Christmas trees already up and decorated. We've not even had Advent Sunday yet!

With a DS with a December birthday we always put the tree up in the middle of the month after his birthday. In any case, any earlier and the novelty will have worn off for me by the 25th.

Interested to hear from mumsnetters who have their tree already decorated. Thank you.

Outside lights are being put up for turning on 1st December.
Last year we had a 'lights turning on' party and the weather was so rubbish we moved the party inside that morning - mega panic to decorate inside, tree cut and lights on same day, as well as prepping for 50 people coming over. Lesson learnt by Christmas the tree was a fire hazard and I was fed up of the decoration's. This year it'll likely be 2 weeks before for inside

We don't normally put them up until after 10th December in my family (anniversary of my Father's death) but I have a 3yr old! She adore Christmas trees and is desperate to put ours up so I will put it up at beginning of December. Not in sodding November!

"mummy mummy please don't let's start preparing now for Christmas"

Said no child ever.

I might have to divorce a manchild who insisted his birthday trumped the deckies though.

One of my most favourite memories ever is going with dd, who would have been maybe 3, to my mum's (from abroad,) and walking down the street to shove some cards through doors and her absolute sheer unbelievable joy at the "pretty lights" I have gone OTT with lights ever since!

Why be so judgemental?
Because I’m entitled to my opinion even if you disagree with it.
You can be assured though that I real life I will not be taking it upon myself to tell the early decorators they are twats are burning down their Christmas displays or similar.
