Has anyone stayed in a failing marriage?

After a frank conversation dh and I have decided to give our failing marriage another go. We're going to make more effort in general and see how it goes. Did anyone stay and work it out?

Good luck OP.... Try and be clear in your objectives, what outcomes you agree on, milestones to reach. This will help you both to make progress, and think of eachother.

It didn't work out for me but I did everything I could. ExDH was not remotely invested in our marriage, in making an effort. And it showed.

I wish you success (and patience and humour...😉)

Stay together if you truly love each other

About 18 months ago I would have said my marriage was failing, there were a lot of things just out of whack and neither of us were in good mental health.
We have had a fair bit of counselling both individually and as a couple and we are getting on really well now. I think it was the realisation that we still love each other very much and just needed to work to repair the other bits that were ‘corroding’ it.
I think if you have fallen out of love it’s much harder, making something out of almost nothing would be very difficult.

I am going for counselling. Since we've been together we've had to put up with work place bullying, fertility treatment; a prem birth and my depression. We have had some crap thrown at us and I'm knackered with it

Watching with interest.

We are still in the plodding along stage. DH did start making an effort but it appears it was short lived. I honestly cba to make an effort because I've emotionally detached.

Ditto what WhyAmIsoCold said

Exactly the same as whyamisocold- if I had the money and somewhere to go I’d walk away, no emotions there any more he drains everything from me but can’t bare to uproot my kids. I guess that’s not quite giving it another go this time but I’ve tried time and time again before now

I think we both need to make the effort. Selfishly I think I'm too young to be stuck in a crap marriage but want to give it a go so at least I can say i tried
