Except it's not a replacement they're looking for - they have a replacement but the child doesn't want it because it's too new. He wants his original toy which is presumably in the bowels of GWR's lost property department, unless another passenger on the train picked it up and took it home.

I'm sympathetic and hope the toy is returned to him but I don't see what Mumsnetters can do?

I read it as it might be in lost property, but it could be elsewhere. Isn't it worth a chance?
