Car insurance question

Binglebong · 24/11/2018 00:23

I'm currently careless so obviously don't have drive-any-car insurance. If I want to test drive someone's car (either dealership or private seller) will I be covered on their insurance as a non named driver?

Many thanks!

Depends how old you are and what your insurance says.

Dealership will have their own insurance.

I think insurance usually says.
If you're over 25 you can drive any car with the owners permission, but you'll only have limited cover.

If you don't have any car I insurance yourself, I think it vanishingly unlikely that another driver's insurance will cover you.
You'd just have to check the details of their policy.

It's possible to get temporary, 24 HR insurance for a specific vehicle that you don't own.

Dealer you’ll be fine. Private sale not a chance.

Dealership is ok, they should put trade plates on (but many don't). Private, absolutely not.

You can get 1 day insurance which would cover you if it's a private sale. At a dealership you'll be fine.

you can use the cuvva app lets you insure a car for as little as an hour x
