Ds wants one for Christmas, and my heads spinning with looking.

He's a fortnite gamer, and shouts to his friends, so this is primarily what it's for.

Any advice very gratefully received!

Turtle beach and Razer get my recommendation

paddler78 · 23/11/2018 15:19

Another one for Turtle Beach - even there cheaper ones are pretty good Smile

eleflump · 23/11/2018 15:20

My DS has a Turtle Beach one - he likes it and it has lasted well.

BastardGoDarkly · 23/11/2018 15:22

Ah thank you. I was worried about the 'not all headsets are compatible with UK' warning. And also... may need something to plug it in?

Can you tell me which exact sort you all bought, sorry, I'm clueless.

£29.99 New headset here

Reaa · 23/11/2018 15:32

Razer headset here also on offer

gamerchick · 23/11/2018 15:33

Definitely turtle beach.

However ask him if he wants a 1 ear or 2. I detest 2 ear ones even though you can set it to sit wonky.

BastardGoDarkly · 23/11/2018 15:37

Ah thanks Reaa

Oh, good point gamerchick I doubt he'll know though, he's never had one. Would he be able to hear me shout..... Time to get off now!!??

With a 1 ear he will. 2 ear it's full immersion.

If he doesnt know he won't have a preference yet. Ask him what his friends have maybe?

paddler78 · 23/11/2018 15:45

we have this one www.argos.co.uk/product/4506696 works fine with our xbox one Smile

BastardGoDarkly · 23/11/2018 15:57

And the verdict is 2 ears.

smurfy2015 · 02/12/2018 09:49

I know you might have got the gift at this point op - I recommend this one www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01FX1LV12/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8

according to my nephew (12), it has a "double connection" so there is a way for him to link it to the Xbox on one connection and laptop on a different connection, it also links up to his tablet, all in one headset.

He uses his constantly, as a result, stands up to lots of wear, tear and abuse.

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 02/12/2018 11:06

There's definitely a case of getting what you pay for I've found. Cheaper ones cause DS to shout, better quality and the sound is slightly more muted Wink

treacledan71 · 02/12/2018 11:11

The 29.99 turtle ones we have too. Argos replace them if they break within a year no extra charge. Our sound went and they did. They do inspect them to check not thrown etc !
