Suggestions on what to do in London, with adult niece, before/after theatre?

Hello, I'm taking my niece to the Criterion as part of her Christmas present, on 2nd December (we're seeing a play she wants to see). She comes in to Liverpool St so I'm looking for ideas on what to do before and after the play.....christmas shopping/cocktails/food etc close to the theatre (or reasonable cab journey). Any ideas gratefully received. TIA

stick by the theatre. Jermyn Street and Fortnums are fantastic for really special Christmas stuff and are steeped in London history - the cheese shop has the same counter as it had when Beau Brummell bought his cheese there etc. A wander down Burlington arcade opposite Fortnums is also an absolute delight even if you're not going to buy anything. There's a new cocktail bar open in the back of the Royal Academy at the back of Burlington Arcade which looks lovely. Brasserie Zedel right by the theatre has a very impressive room. If you want a slightly more unusual menu, I really like Nopi just up the road. I think there's also a Le Labo store very near there in Soho? NB - none of these are budget options but they are all unique and non chain and very London!
