My DD2 has a music exchange visit coming up next week. The student, from Spain, is coming here for a week (with a return visit planned for DD2 in March next year) next weekend. The student will be a girl, 14-15 years old and is obviously ‘in to’ music (it’s not an MFL exchange btw, just music, all students have a good level of spoken English). There are a lot of music events and school events planned already but I’m busy planning a visit somewhere or two (we live near quite a few English Heritage sites, so planning visiting there), planning the menu (I am not a great cook Blush and we’re vegetarian and don’t know if the visiting student is or isn’t vegetarian too, so a lot of room for disasters Grin), but, and especially as it’s coming up to Christmas and DDs will both have their Beauty Advent Calendars, I would really like to buy a nice present for the Spanish Student to take home. But I haven’t the first idea what to get! All I know about them is, as above, they will be a girl and 14/15 years old. I had a vague idea of getting something uniquely ‘British’, but got stuck on food and drink that I don’t think are either age appropriate (we live near Chapel Down Grin), or things that will be available in Spain anyway. So, please send me your brilliant ideas!

An advent calendar? You can get some depicting "British" scenes - type "London Advent Calendar" into Amazon and some nice ones come up there. It's not too expensive, is a good language and cultural resource and a nice talking point as well as being easy to transport back home.
I think I have just talked myself into ordering one!!
