I don’t feel like you had to have seen the first one, I think it does pretty much stand by itself. To be honest I think you’d have needed to have some knowledge of the Harry Potter books, rather than have watched Fantastic Beasts to get the most out of this second film. That’s the feeling I came away with anyway.

I think definitely yes - I saw film 1 when it came out but not since, and I wished I’d watched it again before film 2. And I’m obsessed with the HP books/films and know them really well but still thought film 1 knowledge was needed
