Tax return one day late

Has anyone mucked up and done this?

I filled it all in a few weeks in advance, but somehow missed clicking submit at the end. I suddenly realised on 1st Nov in the morning I’d had no email confirmation, logged in and pressed submit.

Has anyone done this? I’d done all the calculations etc, just somehow missed the final button. I’m so kisses off if I get £100 fine as it’s not much less than the tax I owed!

Why is it due 31 Oct?
Online returns are 31 Jan.

I’ve lost it 😂

But the deadline for submitting online isn't until 31st January 2019?

skiptrip · 22/11/2018 17:45

Grin I started to worry myself for a minute there!

I’ve just about had heart failure there! Don’t know why, I always do the tax return beginning of jan and I know the due date, but just for a moment I had a panic! Probably due to those dodge calls I keep getting from someone pretending to be HMRC, threatening my arrest and how I need a legal team and to call some bloke called Dennis to presumably pay some scammer thousands 🙄

BerriBorri · 22/11/2018 17:46

Well... on the plus I did it really early 😂

I’m just balancing so much, some old paper return date suddenly seems to have swelled up.

I once completed it, paid my tax then got a penalty notice for £100 as I forgot to press submit. They let me off as I'd paid and also was going through hospital tests at the time (I don't know whether they would have let me off anyway without the hospital letters).
