I’ve just watched this documentary and feel so sad and disappointed for the staff and pupils at Marlwood. What an awful and frustrating situation they have been trapped in. Has anyone else seen this? Hats off to any teachers out there. I truly could not do that job.

I watched it.

They seemed trapped in a cycle of having fewer pupils apply to the school, receiving less funding, struggling to recruit staff, getting a poor Ofsted report and then having even fewer pupils apply to the school.

I've been watching this series with my teen dd, it's so insightful. Yes, very sad for the dedicated teachers there. A fantastic documentary.

It really upset me too. I'm a teacher, but primary. We are still facing crazy cuts, it's ridiculous

Yes, and they seemed to be lacking effective discipline (or is that normal?!) Really felt the frustration of the teaching staff.

Do ‘failing’ schools not get any additional financial support?

What's the documentary called?

TeenTimesTwo · 21/11/2018 21:37

It's called 'School'.
Failing schools don't get additional money.
