Red wine on a beige carpet

Clumsy DH and a ruined sea grass type carpet. Enormous glass tipped and splashed. The stain is terrible. He's tried white wine, salt, scrubbing to no avail.

Has anyone got any remedies that will sort this? It says online to try white vinegar and a solution of washing up liquid next but it'll stink.

Any help? LTB??

Try soda water. Kitchen roll to blot as much as possible. Then a squirt of soda water, wait five minutes, then blot again. MIght take several attempts.

You could try the vinegar before as the soda should neutralise the smell.
