Buying (not eBay) paying/delivery safely

Hi
Is there a way I could buy something from Facebook marketplace from miles away and arrange to pay and arrange for a courier to pick up and deliver without the risk of not getting the item and losing the money? I can't think how it might be possible and I hoped someone would have an idea!
Thank you

In a nutshell, this is risky.
But if it's a must, Pay through PayPal. If the item does not arrive then you can raise the problem in PayPal's resolution centre. Through this method the onus is on the sender to prove the item has been delivered to the recipient. So basically sellers who don't use recorded delivery run the risk of the recipient claiming their money back on the terms that the item never arrived.

In your case, if you don't receive the item then PayPal will review it and most likely give you your money back if the seller can't prove you have received the item.

They do this by taking funds from seller and giving back to recipient.

I personally use PayPal for most online transactions.
