My teen is due to go to uni next sept. I'm a single parent with another 8 yr old child. I work part time and look after my mum who has dementia. I'm getting really worried about a few things, mostly financial, when my oldest leaves. Obviously my child benefit and tax credits will stop for my oldest when he leaves, and my food bill will go down and possibly my energy bills.
I live in a 3 bed private rent. I'm worried about how I'll cope with the inevitable bedroom tax, on top of losing a big chunk of my income. I couid potentially move to a 2 bed but where will my son go when he comes back home at holidays?? Also I love where I live, been here 6 yrs and my landlord is great. There is a chance i wouldn't get anywhere anyway as most landlords do not take on any tenants on housing benefit and there's no way I'd get a council place. Thought about taking on a tenant, but again where woukd my son go?? I can't work anymore due to looking after my dd and my mum. Really getting all worried and not sure what to do for best. Any advice??
