Children’s car seat advice

Have put in chat for traffic.

DS is 3.5 but is a skinny minny - only 13kg therefore not ready for the group 2/3 car seats most of which use a lap belt.

I’m happy to keep him in his current maxi cosi pearl however we are expecting our second child in February and will therefore need the base that the pearl sits on for the baby car seat. You can’t use the toddler seat on its own.

So... am I right in that the only solution is to get another base (£180) or will a group 2/3 seat with harness also be as safe?

I think it's a 123 seat you need so you can use the harness

Can't you just belt in the infant carrier for baby 2?

I bought a Britax Evolva in a similar boat. I eventually took the straps out at 5.5 years tiny kid.
