I’m only recently back at work after 9 years sahm

I have a lovely nanny, very happy. We are one month in. I have no experience whatsoever with nannies.

Christmas... I would like to give her a bonus and / or present

Wha you do others do? Thanks

We normally either give a really nice present or money, depending on what her Christmas plans are. On the years that our nanny travels to her home country for Christmas, we give money, on the years that she stays here, we give a gift.

Her contract is also an annual one that coincidentally is due for renewal in December, so we normally give a small pay increase as well.

How much bonus?

When does 6 hours a week.
I was thinking £50 bonus plus candle and a box from hotel de chocolate?

week's pay in cash plus a wrapped gift / something home made from the kids. normally a day or two extra off as well.

Workreturner that sounds lovely!

After what will be barely 2 months, a lavish gift/weeks pay, isn’t necessary, what you have suggested sound lovely.

My bosses give the kids a couple of pound each and they each choose me one or two things from the poundshop completely of their own choosing (for my birthday the 5yo chose a bottle of Flash with bleach because “Lego really likes cleaning the sink with it” Grin ) so depending on your children’s ages that could be a bit fun!

We do a present, a cash bonus and a nice meal out - our nanny is shared and it's nice for the relationship for me and the other mum to go out with her and talk about things other than the kids!

JellyBellies · 21/11/2018 08:13

We give cash and a card/box of chocs.

everycowandagain · 21/11/2018 08:17

I usually give our part time nanny £50 and a card made by the kids (if I have time to get them to make one! )

Stillwishihadabs · 21/11/2018 08:34

I think a week's wages in cash is pretty standard tbh

eurochick · 21/11/2018 08:41

We do a week's wages.
