Thanks for starting this thread. I have already tweeted. What a wonderful man he is, my thoughts and hopes are with him and his family tonight.

He sleeps deep, his legs jerking like he's riding a bike
And, I wonder if in his dreams, he's 7 again and riding on his uncle's bike from his grandparents' house to the moors, where he felt free from the sting of his poverty.

Oh gosh, thanks for letting us know. I don't tweet, but I'm holding him in my thoughts. Harry is a very special bloke.

mirren3 · 21/11/2018 01:21

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know who he is. Thanks Helena for this thread, I'm thinking of him and his family. He has a very kind face.

HelenaDove · 21/11/2018 01:38

he grew up in a time where there was no NHS

He remembers the screams of pain coming from a house where a woman was dying of cancer. Her family couldnt afford the morphine.

His sister contracted TB when she was four Harrys mum cared for her the best she could but finally they had to take the heartbreaking decision to put her into the workhouse She died there in the infirmary.

A wonderful man who's had a damn good innings and a useful life. If he's now on his final leg, as it seems may be the case, then godspeed.

PerkingFaintly · 21/11/2018 11:46

When I feel like giving up, burying myself in a hole and letting the whole boiling take itself to hell as it so clearly wants to, his example thwacks me with both a chide and an inspiration.

He persisted.

I went to a rally a couple of years ago and saw him speak. He was wonderful and so inspiring. Hope you get better soon Harry.

GetRid · 21/11/2018 19:55

He is amazing on Twitter. I don't always agree with him though. Sorry to hear he's unwell and hope he makes a full recovery.

GrabEmByThePatriarchy · 28/11/2018 09:29

He's passed.

Rest in power.

Star He was a wonderful man. A fighter til the end.

Auldspinster · 28/11/2018 09:36

RIP Harry, been following his son's updates on Twitter.

Bombardier25966 · 28/11/2018 09:43

It's heartbreaking to see Harry pass. He'd become much like a beloved grandad figure to so many of us who want a better future for all, not just those fortunate to be born into a stable home/ country.

What I'd not realised until the past few days was his worldwide impact. Truly inspiring.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2018 09:51

A fierce fighter for good. I do hope his rage at injustice is what is remembered and carried on, and he is not reinvented as a cuddly grandad to the nation.

Bombardier25966 · 28/11/2018 09:57

@Bertrand Russell You can be both. My grandad was the strongest person I know, but also with the warmest heart.

TheFaerieQueene · 28/11/2018 09:57

I saw a few minutes ago that he had sadly died. RIP Harry. You will be missed.

PerkingFaintly · 28/11/2018 10:07

Ah no.

Thank you, Harry. Thank you for everything.

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 28/11/2018 10:54

So sad, Harry was an inspiration to so many. 😢

HelenaDove · 28/11/2018 13:17
