Help - question about superpowers

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 19:51

A random post but I have to complete an interview type thing for work which asks 'which superpower would you wish to have?'. Any ideas? Nothing dodgy!

Surely it doesn't matter what you put as long as you have a good/funny reason for it?

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 19:57

Aggh, and a question about who I would meet dead or alive. I lack inspiration.

OP posts:
purplepandas · 20/11/2018 19:57

It doesn't TooMinty but my brain is vacant right now after a long day. I can't think of anything witha good and/or funny reason.

What problem bugs you and a superpower would solve it?

ScreamingValenta · 20/11/2018 20:02

My answer might depend on the type of job it is! If the company is very environmentally conscious, you could say you'd like the power of perpetual motion so you could conserve the world's resources.

barbiegrl · 20/11/2018 20:03

For me the superpower would have to be power of flight-then I wouldn't have to sit around in traffic jams! And the person I would love to meet would be queen Victoria. She was little more than a child when she was crowned queen, but ended up founding a dynasty and showing the world just what a "girl" can do-what an inspiration and surely the greatest example of "girl power" there ever was?

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 20:08

Thanks. So funny barbie girl as I love history and wasjust thinking about Vicoria as the person to meet. She intrigues me, paricularly as so many letters were destroyed and there is so much we don't know. Great minds. She and Elizabeth I were pretty girl power as you mention I think.

I did wonder baout the power of speed to get more done but then I think I would lose the detail and the enjoyment.

Super speed so you can get the work done faster?

lLikeCake · 20/11/2018 20:14

The power of reading people's minds so that you knew what they wanted you to do before they actually said it.

Onemorefireball · 20/11/2018 20:15

For me if I could have a super lower it would be teleporting. It would save you so much time and money! I'd love to be able to leave the house just before work started or pop over to Canada for the day!

If I could meet one person alive I'd find it a tough choice between Tom Hiddleston and Barack Obama. Both seem to nice, kind and intelligent.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 20/11/2018 20:17

Mind reading is an excellent one!

ScreamingValenta · 20/11/2018 20:17

Perhaps naming a power and giving the advantages and disadvantages would be a good way to approach the question.

TheFillijonk · 20/11/2018 20:20

I'd want the power of language; the ability to speak fluently any language in the world.

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 20:20

Great suggestions, thank you!

Hippychick78 · 20/11/2018 20:38

I would assume they will be analysing the answer to determine your skills and weaknesses/personality traits etc so I would say its best to come from your heart rather than someone else's idea if that makes sense 🤗

My chosen superpower would be maybe to improve life and opportunity for homeless people or maybe to find a cure for incurable illness, especially where children are concerned.

Go with your instinct on the chosen person as its close to your heart ♥

Google may help as to why they ask these questions www.glassdoor.com/blog/superhero-aweber/

Go with your true instincts ♥️

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 20:46

Thanks all and hippychick. it's just a PR thing rather than a psychological approach (although I totally get that it could be the latter in other circs). But yes, food for thought. Doing these things at the end of the day is not good as I am a morning person with more inspiration then.

The highest scoring answer on the success criteria is:

'i wouldn't choose to have a superpower thanks. I'm happy as I am.'

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 21:04

And ironically I have gone with that in the sense that speediness would mean I would lose out on enjoying the everyday moments. Who knew? Much appreciated, you really all did help me to think!

I once answered this question for a team building day at work, then when they did the "how well do you know your colleagues" quiz I failed to recognise my own answer! I chose the power to control the weather...

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 21:36

Nice answer TooMinty. Could be fun I guess at a team building day. It has made me think definitely!

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 20/11/2018 21:37

Never trust anyone who says “invisibility”.

ScreamingValenta · 20/11/2018 21:39

Could be fun I guess at a team building day

Given that the words 'fun' and 'team building day' so rarely appear in the same sentence, it has to be worth a shot! Grin

purplepandas · 20/11/2018 21:47

Ha Behemoth, I agree, Would never opt for that one for the same reason. Sounds so dodgy.

And yes, I was deluded to put the words 'fun' and 'team building day' in a sentence. I don't know what I was thinking *screaming'. I am still traumatised by the last one I went to about a year ago (no mention of super powers or people you might want to meet). It was wrong on so many levels. Like a bingo card of who to offend from the moderator. Inappropriate and insensitive topics covered flippantly, check. Comment on unusual physical characteristics of staff as they enter the room late, check. Make staff touch each other, check. I need to go and lie down.
