I'm not the only one who HATES the Boots Xmas ad, am I?

Because it drives me insane!

It doesn't make any sense, for one! So the daughter she keeps stealing her mum's perfume, wears make up at what? 17?! And her mum marches her back off upstairs to take it off and she does it Hmm and gets a slight eye roll? Ha! Then she sees her mum singing, wearing a bit of lipgloss and suddenly she's her hero!! So she decides to buy her another lipgloss for Christmas?!

However, the 'story' isn't the most irritating thing about this advert. It's the god awful music! .....

"If there's somebody spoilin ma fun. She's me mum". Arghhhhh!!!! Angry

Rachel, it brings a tear to my eye too, but for different reasons Hmm

I think if boots got their act together they could come up with something better in the next week or so and scrap that

One word - cringeworthy

Having said that I do like Elton John but I'm not that impressed with the John Lewis advert either, not a patch on buster the boxer or some of their others but as my partner pointed out - maybe they have a warehouse full of piano's they've over ordered and need to shift!!!!!

itsbritneybiatches · 20/11/2018 13:13

I hate it too. And the John Lewis one with Elton John.

I like the Sainsbury's one though

mrkaykay · 20/11/2018 13:19

Thought it was about daughters using up all of the mum's nice perfume and makeup (mum making the daughter take of the makeup she stole from mum) then the daughter realised hher mum deserves nice lippy. Though I agree a bit shit.

Jellyonawonkyplate · 20/11/2018 13:35

Oh wow. That is the cringiest thing I have ever seen and heard. Possibly in my entire life.
" Now I see her, stunning and strong, she's me mum" ??!!!?!?

southnownorth · 20/11/2018 13:38

Hate it, hate it, hate it and that girls voice goes right through me as well.

Lumpy76 · 20/11/2018 14:00

Hate it and who wouldn’t let their DD wear makeup at that age? (And I hardly ever wear make up!) Who thinks the Mum is a big hypocrite??? Basically terrible advert!

HHH3 · 20/11/2018 17:57

The Boots in that ad is actually a Waterstones! Boots is down the road.

Just thought I'd share the only thing I know about itBlush

AnnabelleLecter · 20/11/2018 18:03

It's sickly and daft.
No teenager or parent I know would behave like that.

yogafailure · 20/11/2018 18:07

It's crap. I don't like the JL one either and I couldn't give a crap for Kevin the bloody carrot either grinch

Gimmeesugar · 20/11/2018 18:09

As soon a second I saw it I got straight on Twitter expecting an outperforming of hatred. But everyone seemed to like it. It confused me. It’s appalling

QuentinLettsisAbitofAtool · 20/11/2018 18:11

I hate it with a vengeance. Pair of wallies.

LostontheWestway · 20/11/2018 18:15

I hate it! The story not so much but the song...whoever is singing it sounds quite well spoken and, well from the South and then they add in "she's me mum" to try and make it sound Northern and extra friendly and twee.

It just sounds shite.

JustLurkingAway · 20/11/2018 18:19

Oh god, I hate it too!

MaisyPops · 20/11/2018 18:20

Irritating, muddled and twee in equal measures.

And don't get me started on the Christmas obsession with covering songs in whiny breathy voices.

ilovetocook · 20/11/2018 18:22

I hate it too, I also don't like the sainsburys ad. The John Lewis one is OK. So far my favourite one is the McDonald's ad, not something I thought I'd be saying!

AutumnCrow · 20/11/2018 18:25

I don't understand that carrot and parsnip advert either. Do they want to be eaten?

Sparklingbrook · 20/11/2018 18:28

It's awful. How embarassing to send her daughter back upstairs to take her really nice make up off in front of her mates.

The song with all the 'me Mum' stuff makes me want to throw up.

HeyMicky · 20/11/2018 18:29

Dreadful. They must have changed their creative agency because the last two years have been great - the nurse coming home after a shift to find everyone waiting for her, and the young lad dropping gifts off unexpectedly, ninga style. Both excellent

Caggie09 · 20/11/2018 18:33

''She's me mum'' really grates on me. Argh, so cringey and the bloody choir sceneGrin Im off to watch it again though😂

blue25 · 20/11/2018 18:35

It's awful-I hate it too! "She's me mum" is just cringey

StuntBottom · 20/11/2018 18:38

The Boots in that ad is actually a Waterstones! Boots is down the road.

HHH3, I was just coming on to the thread to say the same thing. We must live in the same town!

GreasyFryUp · 20/11/2018 18:39

All Christmas ads are annoying.... so far I've avoided them. Long live the BBC....

EdWinchester · 20/11/2018 18:40

It is the WORST ad ever.

I think I saw them filming the choir bit in Hitchin, but I might be wrong.

Loopytiles · 20/11/2018 18:41

Awful.

The accent seems unnatural, Tess Daly style.

Unclear whether the mum’s order to take off the lipstick is because her DD has nicked her lipstick or because she dislikes her DD wearing make up, but both scenarios are silly, especially given the age of the DD.
