Need to buy one to make soups, curry pastes, etc but don’t know which to get.

Which is better?

Neither - jug blender is best imo. Easy to use, no mess and takes up less space than a full processor.

Stick blender definitely best for soup. Processor with small bowl for curry paste. I don’t think there is one tool that effectively makes both.

You can find stick blenders that come with a little mini food processor attachment as well as the one for blending. These aren't usually big enough to make a lot of curry paste or sauce, but mine is fine for, for example, pesto for pasta for a single evening's dinner for three or four people.

I use my stick blender for everything including curry paste. It really is the most useful tool in the kitchen. We also have a big fancy food processor but I can never be arsed with it

I bought a multi purpose stick blender from Argos for around £20. There is one main electric part which clicks into a stick blender, whisk and small food processor.

Looks like it’s a stick blender then! Now to decide which one!
