What did you crave in pregnancy? Sweet or savoury?

Inspired by another thread, I craved sweet food with both of my pregnancies and both were girls - chocolate with the first and orange juice with the second.

Does savoury mean boy and sweet mean girl? What were your cravings?

Fizzy orange & Percy pigs until I made myself feel sick eating too many with dd1
Fizzy orange with dd2
I didn't have a sweet tooth pre-children it was all about the salty/savoury but not any more.

First pregnancy: co op cheese and onion sandwiches, girl. Second pregnancy:whipped cream, girl. Generally had lots of food aversions both times, couldn’t eat meat or salad.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/11/2018 23:07

Oranges

Gingaaarghpussy · 19/11/2018 23:08

Ds1 peach tea, chedders and raspberry jam sarnies.
Ds2 cheddars.
So clearly chedders was a theme but sweet and savoury distinction didnt mean anything.

rosie39forever · 19/11/2018 23:09

Wheatabix, boxes and boxes of them with ice cold milk and Worcester sauce flavoured wheat crunchies, had a girl who is allergic to wheat!!!

mycatplotsdeath · 19/11/2018 23:13

Dd1 roast potatoes with chicken gravy
Dd2 pickled onion monster munch with vanilla ice cream

2childrenandout · 19/11/2018 23:15

The only thing I craved was wine Grin

BeBesideTheSea · 19/11/2018 23:18

Carrots. And quavers. Went right off cake. Boy

Andyetanothernamechange · 19/11/2018 23:19

@Esker I was the same with orange juice. I was like an addict. It was ridiculous. I would think about orange juice endlessly until I could drink it. Oddly, not oranges though. Then I got bloody heartburn and my body was at odds with itself. Stupid cravings!

So the boy/savoury and girl/sweet distinction is utter bollocks.

I went off coffee both times. I wonder if I would if I was pregnant with a boy.

For those who have mentioned tissues/sponges, I find pica, especially pregnancy pica really interesting. I had a friend who would suck on a sponge but only a used, soapy sponge. She was also tempted to eat washing powder, her OH had to do the washing for her entire pregnancy.

Oxo cubes, ice, and bath water from a sponge - both boys

GoBigOrange · 20/11/2018 03:13

I was an absolute fiend for orange juice too when I was pregnant with my son. I drank a big carton every single day, and it had to be the type with pulp. DH bought smooth once by mistake and I sobbed until he scuttled off and bought the right stuff. I don't even particularly like orange juice usually.

fieryginger · 20/11/2018 04:35

Mentholyptus losengers with my DD. Cheese on toast with first DS, but I hate cheese.

DinosApple · 20/11/2018 06:31

1st pregnancy - pickled onions, lime jelly cubes, hated meat.

2nd pregnancy - no pickles, lots of orange juice.

Hating the smell of coffee confirmed both my pregnancies before my period was due. I love the smell of coffee normally but don't drink it.
When I opened the tin at work I took a deep breath and thought yuck! And I knew. My mum was the same. I had 2 girls, mum had one of each.

MondayImInLove · 20/11/2018 07:44

Avocados and tomatoes when og with b/g twins.
I would eat 4-5 avocados a day (before it was trendy!) and 6-8 tomatoes. Kind of healthy 😇

sonlypuppyfat · 20/11/2018 07:46

Oranges, I was completely obsessed. I dreamed about Fanta

BikeRunSki · 20/11/2018 07:48

Seafood, cheese, marmite in both; had one boy and one girl.

Rockbird · 20/11/2018 07:49

Wasn't so much a craving as the only thing that stopped me feeling sick was chocolate milk, the thicker and colder the better. And crunchy nut cornflakes. Two girls.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 20/11/2018 07:49

Meat,All the meat.I had a boy.

theoriginalpineappletart · 20/11/2018 07:53

Galaxy Caramel, Apple Creams, Paris Buns with red lemonade. I had a boy. Don't like sweet stuff normally so it was very noticeable.

JellycatElfie · 20/11/2018 08:01

First time - Chinese food, like tofu and rice! Salty crisps and orange juice. Had a little boy!
Second time - chocolate, fresh fruit, not much else. Also a boy!

DisillusionedEmployee · 20/11/2018 08:32

Raspberries. I had punnets and punnets, felt a tinge if guilt after polishing off 2 in a row but then thought heck it's only fruit. But the ££! Shock

Jellybeanduck · 20/11/2018 08:40

Apples, grapes and Salty chips- Boy
Red meat- Girl
