Black tie event

I'm going to an awards dinner tomorrow.ive never been to a posh do before. It's going to feel like minus 1 degrees so can I wear a coat? Are women just meant to freeze en route to these things, when it's a proper red carpet malarky? Feeling stressed that I'll look stupid now.

Personally I’d wear a coat. A dressy, evening coat, but a coat nonetheless. I have a black velvet one for smart occasions.

I didn’t believe in freezing my tits off by going coat-less in my youthful nightclubbing days, and I certainly don’t now.

Yes wear a smart coat, enjoy.

I have a black velvet jacket but it's very lightweight. Thought I'd get away with that but worried it'll be really cold. My other option is my fake fur thingy. It's dressy but perhaps a bit too quirky Confused

I would wear the fake fur thingy.

That’s if you think you’ll actually need it. Will you be outside long or can you be dropped at the door?

No, I will be getting train there and taxi back so will be some standing around. No idea if there's a cloakroom though!

I'm sure there will be a cloakroom Mumteedum. Wear your warmest coat to travel and pop a pair of flats in the car to put on for the journey home!!

Oh and have a FAB time!! I love getting dressed up for black tie events and wearing a long dress. Not been to one for years but have some very fond memories Grin
