What would you do- had someone in to do a job

I usually tackle most DIY myself.

This was a big job and recovering from illness so decided to get someone in (highly recommended locally)

The job- completely sand a kitchen floor- dye wood then oil it.

I asked if he needed me to get him any materials
I asked him how long the job would take
We agreed on a price

Today he rocks up over an hour late saying traffic is bad

He goes after lunch as he has to see another job for 20 minutes (comes back after an hour wih more supplies he’d forgotten )
The kitchen is a mess (he told me he had a dustless system connected to a vac) he brought the wrong part so dust is everywhere

He’s gone home have only sanded the floor

He’s been completely disorganised and now I have to move work around to be here tomorrow- I doubt he’ll finish the work left ina morning

He’s also taken 2 walls off the tile (he said he’d affix them) and he’s broken a tile (he said he’d glue it together and put it back on the wall) Hmm

I think we agreed a fair rate but I’m tempted to ask him for a reduction as he turned up this morning saying his equipment did not a certain part anymore so he’d used up his materials budget on something to replace it- and he’d have to charge me more.

Why would you pay him more because he had to replace his equipment ? Not to mention he's broken your tiles ? 😂 id tell him to piss of and stain it your self !

He said he couldn’t get the sanding sheets other wise- Confused I know.

I’m not mobile enough to stain a floor or oil one I’m afraid-

But I don’t want him to come back and be nasty and make the job worse

I was thinking of offering him £50 less than we’d agreed (have taken photos) they guy seems a bit disorganised and flying by the seat of his pants.
