Give blood!

Hi,
Just a friendly reminder to make an appointment to give blood if you can. I went today and was chatting to one of the nurses, she said they are really struggling to get donors in my area, especially at this time of year.

So yeah, if you can give blood then please go and do it! It doesn’t take long and could save someone’s life.

I have donated many times in the past but since hitting my 40s it makes me feel rough afterwards.

Several times I have had to lie on the floor to stop myself fainting about 2 hours after donating so whilst I would love to I think it's best I don't anymore .

My mum donates but also find it very hard to get an appointment.
She had an appointment in Aug which she waited months for only to turn up and find a note on the door saying it was cancelled.
She was then back to square one again trying to get an appointment.

Why do they make it so hard?

Their website is totally crap for booking too ... I want to put in my postcode and see available appointments, not be shown locations near me then have to check each one for availability.

I used to donate regularly, but I don't seem to be able to get my iron levels high enough now.

It’s really difficult to get an appointment unless you book months in advance, which is impossible with working unpredictable shifts.
Last time I managed to attend my appointment I arrived and was informed they were running 90 minutes late so didn’t have time to stay, the next available appointment was two months later.
So the issue seems to be lack of available appointments, rather than lack of donors.

I do, but it's hard to get an appointment. Even an appointment where you're a 'priority' blood group.

I gave about a month ago and my next appointment is next February, I have to take a half day at work to donate as there isn't many available places in my area. Even though I keep getting messages saying A-neg stocks are running low.
