Just found out I’m pregnant. Had 2 previous miscarriages.

Hi all, so been feeling under the weather with an ear infection and a cold. Noticed that my period was a few days late but didn’t really think much of it as I thought feeling ill had just put it off for a bit. Anyway did a test earlier today and I’m pregnant. I know I should be over the moon but my partner and I sadly suffered a miscarriage in January this year and another one two years before that. I’m really worried as I’ve been taking antibiotics and other medications for the cold. Obviously as of now I’m not going to take anything until I see my Dr tomorrow but I’m feeling rough. Finding it hard to relax as I’m so scared I’m going to lose this one too. Funny thing is this month we have been barely trying, compared to other months, I know it only takes the once, but still after so many negatives and previous bad luck I’m in shock!

Congratulations lovely. Don't beat yourself up about the medication it happens to loads of people in early pregnancy and you've stopped now.

Do you know roughly how many weeks you are?

Its hard to relax in the early days especially with a history of pregnancy loss. Be gentle with yourself. Hoping all goes well for you💕

Nesssie · 19/11/2018 16:09

Congratulations!
I know quite a few people who have stopped actively trying and then fallen pregnant - I guess taking the pressure off must help?

No matter what people say, I don't think you are going to fully relax about this pregnancy but having 2 previous miscarriages doesn't mean you are any more likely to miscarry again this time.

Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy Flowers

Blondie2005 · 19/11/2018 16:22

Thanks @SnailorSwift for the warm wishes. If we are counting from the first day of my last period then I would be 4 weeks,3days.

Than you for the warm wishes @Nesssie. I know it’s probably TMI but I can’t tell you the amount of months we tried DTD every other day and keeping track on an app and nothing. This month must of only DTD twice around what was probably ovulation and that was it. So wasn’t expecting much this month. Literally just thought it was because I was ill I was late. Your’e right I probably won’t relax no matter what but I need to try and just relax myself somehow. Easier said than done. But your right it doesn’t mean I am going to lose this one. Just got to keep telling myself that. Thank you.

Congratulations :)
Don’t worry about the medication I spent two weeks during early pregnancy riding crazy rollercoasters in Florida and drinking blissfully unaware that I was pregnant.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had two miscarriages, when you get a midwife appointment talk about it they may offer extra scans or appointments for reassurance.

Thank you for the reassurance @harrypotterfsn1604. I’ve got a Drs appointment tomorrow so I shall see what he says then. Fingers crossed I get far enough along to see the midwife this time as the previous miscarriages were very early on 🤞🏻🙏

I had two miscarriges before having DC3. I lost both babies at about 9 weeks. For my next pregnancy I took junior aspirin daily. Good luck x

Proseccoagain · 19/11/2018 22:27

Third time lucky for me too! Hope everything goes ok, as it did for me; also moved house, packing and lifting heavy boxes, moving furniture, before I even knew I was pregnant!

Brenna24 · 19/11/2018 22:37

4th time lucky here. Don't worry about the meds etc. for most of the last 2.5 weeks your baby was floating around not even attached and as of yet the placenta is not in place and working, so you can't have done any harm. Everything crossed for you that this is the one.

Aquamarine1029 · 19/11/2018 22:40

Congratulations! I'm so sorry about your miscarriages, and I know how devastating they can be, but they are SO common and often don't reflect any serious fertility issues. It is so VERY important to have a positive attitude. Our drama of mind can directly affect our fertility, so try your best to relax be hopeful! As for your illness, it would not endanger your pregnancy at all. I had a severe flu-like illness for the entire second month of my pregnancy with my daughter, and everything turned out perfectly. Good luck!

Wheresmrlion · 20/11/2018 08:41

Congratulations! What an exciting shock for you both.

My first pregnancy ended in a MMC. Second pregnancy I tried not to think about it until the 12 week scan, relaxed a little bit after the 20 week and finally felt I could look at baby stuff after 25 weeks and viability. I still didn’t really believe it until I was holding my baby.

Miscarriage is cruel and awful at the time but it also often ruins the excitement of subsequent pregnancies, self protection perhaps.

This is a new pregnancy, new genetics at work, fingers firmly crossed all goes well.

RoyalChocolat · 20/11/2018 08:50

Congratulations!
I had a late miscarriage in January. I am now 36 weeks pregnant and I still cannot relax.
Don't worry about the meds - as Brenna24 said, the placenta is not working yet.

Graphista · 20/11/2018 08:58

Another 3rd time lucky here.

The meds you're meaning are ones unlikely to be contraindicated anyway.

No reason you can't seek reassurance from a pharmacist or even dr though for your own peace of mind.

I found it very hard to even begin to relax and like a pp only really started to once dd was viable. Even then I didn't really till we were home and I wouldn't even have the cot in the house until then

Totally normal to feel that way,

Congratulations Thanks

Hi everyone, thank you for your messages. Just a quick update; my Dr sent me for a blood test last week to check my HCG levels. I phoned the Drs today for the results, the receptionist said that the Dr had look at them and has written on them, All Clear,Yes pregnant. I’ve booked to see him Wednesday morning because I want to know what the levels are and the receptionist couldn’t tell me. Do we think this is a good sign? When I had my last miscarriage my levels were very low at 25. Just hope this means everything is all good. This has been such an anxious time.

Hope it's more good news for you from hereon in

Blondie2005 · 28/11/2018 12:36

So I went back to the Drs today for my HCG blood test results that I had taken last week. At the time of my blood test I was 4+5 since my LMP. The HCG levels were 901 so I’m hoping that means it’s all good. Been prescribed half an aspirin to take daily as well.

Thank you @Graphista, so do I.

OP posts:
Brenna24 · 28/11/2018 20:30

That sounds positive. I hope it keeps up like this.

Graphista · 28/11/2018 23:49

The half aspirin could well do the trick. Hope you continue to get good news.

Blondie2005 · 23/12/2018 07:37

Found out last night I’m having another miscarriage. 3rd time this has happened now so I don’t know what is wrong with me. Devastated.

RainyAfternoon · 23/12/2018 07:45

I’m so sorry. How heartbreaking for you. Are you with someone?

Alwaysatyke · 23/12/2018 07:50

Oh my goodness, just saw this and didn't want to read and run. I'm so sorry for your losses, I've been in your position (most recently christmas eve last year) so I understand how devastating it is.

I hope you have people to support you and look after you - take plenty of time for yourself and don't feel you need to hide how you feel just because "it's Christmas"
