A&E or bed?

Basically, I'm in no pain, but I literally can't stay awake for the past week. I'm sleeping probably 18 out of 24 hours. I have no energy whatsoever. What would you do? Would A&E just tell me to go home? Any point in me trying to get there?

I would say your GP should be your first port of call.

HumphreyCobblers · 19/11/2018 15:54

I would phone your doctor.

Redglitter · 19/11/2018 15:55

Definitely not an A&E job. Contact your GP

I rang GP yesterday and have an appointment but it's not until 2nd December.

Walk in if you can’t get a gp appointment sooner. Not an A&E job - neither accident not emergency.

SoyDora · 19/11/2018 15:58

It’s not an accident or an emergency. Can you phone in the morning and get a same day Dr’s appointment? Arrange a call back from the Dr?

keepingbees · 19/11/2018 15:58

It's not an accident or emergency but I understand the waits a bit long for your gp. I thought they had to be able to offer an appointment within 48 hours if it was 'urgent'? If not I would ring and see if you can get a phone appointment, or try 111 they might be able to get you seen at out of hours? Probably be worth asking for a blood test

Tellthemnothing · 19/11/2018 15:58

There is no walk in place here.

Sirzy · 19/11/2018 15:58

It’s not an a and e job.

Either get an emergency GP appointment or phone ooh if your worried.

Tellthemnothing · 19/11/2018 16:00

I'm too tired to do anything. I'm getting pins and needles in my head. I know there is something wrong but I just don't have the energy to do anything about it.

Yoi havn’t had an accident, and your condition has not deteriorated over the last week, so not really an emergency.

Walk in clinic if you can’t get a GP appt. or ring for a cancellation every day.

PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2018 16:02

Phone the gp and ask for a phone consultation.

Sexnotgender · 19/11/2018 16:02

Sounds like a virus. Definitely not A&E worthy.

Janleverton · 19/11/2018 16:03

Yes, call GP surgery and ask for an mergency appointment. At my surgery a non urgent appointment may be in early December, but each morning at 8am you can call and (when you eventually get through) ask for an urgent appointment. They also have online appointments/forms or you can ask for a telephone consultation.

This isn’t an A&E matter if you have no other symptoms. In the meantime, are you taking vitamin d or iron supplements. If not, you probably should. Every year at about this time I used to be deadly tired, exhausted all the time. I’ve been tested twice in last years for vit d deficiency and have been v low on it. So now I take a supplement all year round.

Runnynosehunny · 19/11/2018 16:03

I'd call 111

TwoGinScentedTears · 19/11/2018 16:04

Try 111.

Nobody on the internet can really help. It may well be an emergency, but you need someone IRL to help you asses that, so I would try 111.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/11/2018 16:05

Request a phone consultation with your GP. They will either request to see you and book an emergency appointment, or book you an appointment with a nurse/HCA for bloods as a starting point.

HumpHumpWhale · 19/11/2018 16:07

Ring 111. They can arrange an appointment for you to be seen sooner if your UP doesn't do emergency appointments. But do they not have a walk in time slot or something? I find it difficult to believe you can't be seen at all until Dec 2nd.

Tellthemnothing · 19/11/2018 16:09

I just rang the GP again and she said to call back in the morning.

I have a feeling I have a chest infection. I also suffer from depression so am wondering whether it's all in my head. Can barely sit up to type.

OP posts:
madeyemoodysmum · 19/11/2018 16:13

If you have symptoms of a chest infection. Then you need to be seen as a matter of urgency.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 19/11/2018 16:15

Did you ask the receptionist what to do in the meantime?

What other symptoms do you have besides the tiredness?

Tellthemnothing · 19/11/2018 16:17

I am struggling to breathe and have a pain at the front of me. But it's not there all the time, just when I breathe in.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 19/11/2018 16:18

Did you tell all that to the GP?

Try ringing 111.

Tellthemnothing · 19/11/2018 16:18

Yes, the doctors told me to ring at 8 in the morning
