What will the dentist do?

Got an emergency dentist appointment at 3 pm.

My top wisdom tooth had gradually broke off over a couple of years. Never been to the dentist about it. My own fault I know.

Now there's obviously still some tooth there sticking out of my gum and it is agony.

Will the dentist remove it?

They will likely smooth it/drill it out for you today and then you'll go back
for repair work.

When I had a tooth that needed a root cancel, they drilled out the infection, put some antibiotics into the tooth and then some temporary filling over. I had to take oral antibiotics and go back for the root canal to be finished and my tooth to be sealed.

Ooh a drill sounds horrendous!

I'm terrified but will do anything to get rid of the pain

This was me last week! Massive dentist phobia, broken tooth, ended up with infection so I actually braved it and went! Gave me antibiotics for a week then had to go back and have it removed as it was so broken they couldn’t repair it. It was loads better than I thought it would be, and worth it to end the pain!

Have you had a tooth taken out before? I hadn’t and absolutely hate the dentist, but honestly it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. He got it out quite quickly, I took headphones to listen to music.

I have but it was a bottom molar. It wasn't ad bad as I thought. It's just that now they have to cut my gum to get to the tooth because it's all broke off

They told me they’d have to do that but they didn’t in the end. Mine was really badly broken.

ew1990 · 24/11/2018 19:22

Ooh fingers crossed then!

If you’re going to the hospital are they sedating you? I’ve heard that’s good.
