Getting ready with a toddler

How do you all keep your toddlers occupied whilst getting ready in the morning?

DS is almost 3 and up until a few months ago would always happily potter and play whilst I showered/did hair and make up (20-30 mins maximum) but he's recently become very, ahem, strong willed. So he now basically makes a racket, tries to trash things, constantly asks to go downstairs for breakfast (even though he's only been awake a short time and usually happy to wait).

Getting up before him isn't an option for the foreseeable future, first of all because he generally gets woken up when I go in the shower anyway, also I'm 27 weeks pregnant and need all the sleep I can get. I'm conscious that in a few months I'll also have a newborn! I don't do full glamour every day, far from it, but I don't feel human without at least a body shower (wish I could shower at night to save time) and just do the basics of quick hair straighten and mascara/foundation etc. If I'm left in peace I could probably do it all in under 20 mins but it's more like 30 mins when trying to keep DS happy at the same time.

I'm keen to avoid screens as a distraction if possible as we've got this far without. I will however admit defeat if it's my only option when DC2 is here...
