Help! Does anybody know what's happened to my stored clothes.

I've just got a load of the next size baby clothes out of the loft and a lot of them are covered in this mysterious brown staining.... see pic.

They were clean when I put them there, and stored in a vac bag (although the vacuum may have gone fairly early on by the looks of things).

I've put them in the bath to soak in vanish so fingers crossed they're salvageable. I just want to know what happened so it doesn't happen again.

Any ideas?

Water marks? Have you got a leak in your roof?

No, no leak, but they do look like water marks. I'm wondering if they got all sweaty during the heatwave if the vacuum went.

That looks like sun cream stains is that possible?

Maybe on the hat, but it's all over all the clothes, including the growbags. I'm pretty sure they've been nowhere near suncream!

It all smells pretty musty as well. They've not been up there that long, since March time maybe. They were stored in a cupboard before that and were definately fine before I put them up there, as I carefully sorted everything out.

Mould of some kind most likely. Wash it and see what happens, might stain.
